Toms, beans and hostas

Oh yes. We have veg as well as flowers.

Note well, dear reader, the 'sacrificial' lettuce planted between the tasty flowers to entice
the slugs away without the use of slug pellets, which kill amphibians. And we like amphibians. And landing craft. And pretty much any tracked vehicle. Or Skid-steer, like a Bobcat.

Preparing for camping with Lummox & The Bison

Rolf loves to camp it up. Not as much as me, but it's tough to be as camp as little old me without the appropriate genitalia. I mean, who is more camp; Larry Grayson or Isla St Claire? Mr Gayson everytime! Anyway - Rolf is Isla to my Larry, is the point I'm trying to make. The thing is, Rolf needed to try out the sleeping bags we got from Blacks in expectation of the weekend in the Forest for Bison... Why she 'needed' to try them is anyone's guess, but I find it best not to argue with her as sometimes she'll get a bit 'bitey' and I'm not sure my tetanus is fully up to date.

Regarde! Ils grow grande!

Clumping near Cullompers

Near the homestead of Big John & Liz is a simple hamlet where one can wander by streams, through marshes and indulge in a game or two of pooh sticks. Poor Rolfy got upset as she wasn't allowed to chase our sticks into the water - her Spaniel tendencies are becoming quite disturbing.

Waking up in Devon

There are few things more picturesque than a bright April morning in the West Country. Big John & Liz once agin put Rolf and me up in their country retreat and filled us with hearty meals.

I made this with a friendly hippy type fella

I made this with a nice man who made bad jokes

Above is a pot I glazed. It uses a process called Raku, where the pot is placed on a small amount of saw dust while it is still glowing red hot from the kiln. Then the pot and the saw dust are deprived of oxygen and the resulting smoke reacts with the clay and the glaze to make for pretty patterns. As you can see. I went for black, mainly.
