Edinburgh Fringe Festival

The excitement had not really begun to mount about going to Edinburgh, because Rolfy and I had both been busy with work and hadn't really had time to think about it. However, our excitement had been growing for a couple of weeks because we were spending time in the company of Big D and Tigger. There was even talk of an evening meet with the Doctors Phantom, too.

Thankfully, due to a foiled bomb plot or propoganda (depending on your sources) and a broken conveyor at the airport, Rolfy and I were able to fully wake up for our flight by having to queue for 2.5 hours to get on the SleazyJet flight. By the time we took off, Big D & Tigger were already in Edinburgh.

Anyway, finally we arrived, after being greeted by the nicest taxi driver in the world and met up with the chaps....

Big D & Tigger proved to be brilliant guides around the city itself, and since it was still early took us on a picturesque walk to find a hearty full Scottish breakfast. This walk took us past the amazing castle and up a couple of winding streets to a great (and packed) little cafe, where it just so happened that the Drs Phantom were finishing their brekkie. They made way for us and Rolfy, me, Big D & Tigger and a couple of other Edinburgh virgins sat down to a big breakfast with training from Big D on how to 'do' the fringe.

Rolfy and I had the least time available to us and immediately started booking up our day as per Darren's advice.

11AM Momma Cherrie's Soul Food Gospel Brunch stands out as a good way to start the day. I can't remember exactly what else we saw that day, or indeed the rest of the next - but the highlights were Gamarjobat - A shut up comedy from Japan and John Hegley's one man show. Which was fantastic. Other than the 8 or 9 shows we saw, we had a lovely tour of Edinburgh with Big D & Tigger.

and a lovely meal with everybody who tags along to Edinburgh with the Phantoms....
